Meet Cheryl & Buck. Buck is the big handsome fellow on the right; Cheryl, the lovely lady on the left. We met while I was on my quest to 'snap a stranger', or in this case - 2 strangers! They were my very first victims & I simply could not have found a nicer couple. I found them as I was listlessly driving home, bemoaning the fact that I had only 3 days left to join the Stranger Challenge & so far, I had not located any courage whatsoever with which to approach a stranger. Not only that, it's quite difficult to even find a stranger in my town, it's so small & most everyone knows everyone else. Suddenly, there they were! Calmly walking down the street, enjoying a lovely Sunday afternoon ride & looking absolutely perfect for a photograph. Even so, I had to drive around the block twice to get up the nerve to stop & introduce myself, camera in hand. Cheryl was wonderfully gracious, Buck was more than willing, although feeling a little too relaxed to get his ears both pointed at the camera at the same time... :-)) Mostly we talked about Buck & how wonderful he is. Here is what Cheryl had to say about Buck: "he is a 17-year old Appaloosa horse, and I have had him since he was 4 years old. We have gone on many trail rides and he has carried me for 1,000’s of miles. Back in 2004 we went on a wagon train/Red River cart journey from St. Norbert to San Clara, MB. The group travelled 360 miles during the whole month of July, through all kinds of weather (rain or shine) and through all kinds of terrain. Buck loves people and given the chance would stop and say “hi” to everybody." They are an amazing partnership, I feel honoured to have met them & I hope to see them again very soon! Wasn't the Challenge fun yesterday? Wow! Some absolutely amazing shots! 04.26.12
