Little angel on the tree

As each of my grandchildren arrived, I added one of these little angels to the tree. This was my first, and I'm pretty sure you can guess who she is.... 12/31/22

Mrs & Mr Claus

They have been in our family for many years. They always have a special place, up front and centre. As you can see, Santa seems a little off this year, perhaps getting tired. I wouldn't blame him a bit. 12/30/22

Shadows

My jade plant is behaving very strangely lately - it doesn't seem to have have a plan - but I did think the shadows looked nice. Please take care - all my friends in the south, and keep warm. Such devastating cold temps descending upon you.... 12/23/22

The Blue Jays rule the feeder, no doubt about it. When they arrive, the sparrows depart. At least there is agreement, so squabbles rarely break out.

Line repair

Fortunately, power lines still get repaired no matter what the weather.....this was just down the street from us. So far our power hasn't gone out and the storm has not been as bad as predicted, just ongoing light to heavy snow, and wind, and now - quickly dropping temps. Although travel is tricky, shutdowns and cancellations have been few. Hopefully it will blow itself out by tomorrow. Just a quick phone shot here - but it does show how dismal and dark our days are in this weather..... 12/16/22

Lunch at the Tea House

My daughter, Lisa, and I enjoyed a special lunch at our local Tea House to celebrate our birhdays (they are only 1 day apart). Italian Sausage soup with an apple/salmon sandwich on fresh baked bread and loads of strong coffee on old fashioned fine china.... it was lovely :-)) 12/14/22

Roses by the dozen

The roses looked particularly gorgeous at Costco, but I wouldn't dare try to take them home when it's so cold outside. I've tried that before and they always get frostbitten between the store and the car, and then the car and the house- such a disappointment when that happens. 12/10/22

Ice fog & steam on a very cold winter's day

Just a quick iphone shot from a parking lot in the city - this is a typical sight when the temps are in the minus 20's and below...... not clouds in the sky, but clouds of steam hanging in the frigid air. This is actually exhaust steam coming from an industrial plant on the next block. I would have liked to circle the block to get a better shot, but we didn't have the time. Not that great a shot, but I thought you in the warmer 'climes' might find it interesting. 12/09/22 ps... my car is a little cleaner than this one, although this is also typical in winter - a result of sanding the streets and temps rising and falling.

New beginnings.

Thinking of spring .... nice to see new sprouts on my plants. The last couple of weeks (being more or less restricted to the house) has made me focus on the ordinary things I see around my home for photographs. It's definitely challenging and most shots get deleted, but it's also been a good excercise in seeing from a new perspective. Good for the ol' brain, I'm sure! 12/06/22

My sad little plant is doing its best to hang on during the winter months. I'm happy to say that my hands are healing well - some strange allergic reaction it seems. Hope you are all doing well, I'm looking forward to catching up and seeing what I've missed. 12/05/22

Just a few leaves

Unfortunately I've got some problems going on with my hands which is making it difficult - not just to take photographs, but also to use the computer, so I am going to have to take a few days off.
