Coffee the Canadian way

- a shot of winter cheer with a Tim Hortons coffee, 'Timmies' in the morning, always worth the drive... I've been gone a lot longer than I intended, I took the leap and cancelled my (annoying) subscription to Lightroom and Photoshop. Unfortunately - I'm struggling to fill the gap with Affinity Photo and Luminar AI, both have a learning curve I wasn't really expecting. Good for the 'ol brain, as they say! 12/29/21

A single aster

A very few Asters managed to flower on the Prairie this year - they were very small and short, and flowered on a single stalk, like this one. Clearly, they are as tough and determined as they are beautiful.... 12 /07/21

Sunset over the beach

This is the same sunset and evening as yesterday's post, taken on our last evening at the lake for this year. As you can see - all the docks, boats and boat lifts are out of the water in preparation for winter ice, and are now lined up on the beach. Anything left in the water will be destroyed by the ice long before spring. 11/29/21

Farewell to summer, October 9/21

Our last evening at the lake was lovely - calm, peaceful, warm and a long, beautiful sunset. The 8 months before we return will pass quickly I suppose, but right now - it does seem a long time to wait... sigh.... 11/28/21

Living in the (almost) North Pole

My daughter, Lisa, sent me this selfie yesterday. She is currently working (as a Midwife) in Igloolik, Nunavut, which is 1400 miles south of the North Pole, a small community of about 1700. She still has about 4 hours of daylight, but soon there will be none, and the cold is just beginning to really settle in. I think she said, with the windchill, it was -31C (-24F) when she took the photo, still 'warm' enough to be outside without covering your eyes. Makes our weather look downright balmy! 11/24/21
