This apartment block is officially full. The Purple Martins are back and all settled in. Although we did build a new Purple Martin house over the winter - this is not it. This one is at the neighbour's and has been around for years so is very popular - these spots go first. We're hoping some will nest in ours this year, even though it's new - will let you know how it goes. 05/25/21 ps... the crop is tighter than I prefer but I was using my long lens and moving backwards meant being in the lake, needless to say - it's still a little icy cold for that!
Although I would have loved to get a shot of the real Pelicans, I didn't get one. These two are much easier to capture, especially since we tied them down. :) 05/24/21
This little gal appeared to be fast asleep, just soaking up the warm spring sunshine. I guess I woke her up - after a couple of minutes she turned, looked right at me and calmly climbed under the petal to try to finish her nap with a little privacy. She actually seemed a bit offended, so I apologized and left, feeling a little badly of course. 05/23/21
