Waiting for an evening breeze to drift off the water and cool us down. Our long, hot, dry summer drags on.... 07/23/21
He's a big Leonberger puppy (already 25 lbs) - one day he will probably be 150 lbs, so he has a lot of growing to do in a very short time. Some of you will remember our beautiful Bruno - we lost him almost 9 years ago and he was also a Leonberger, at least that's what we guessed, as he was a rescue. Bruno was very special, and we have wanted another Leo ever since he left us. It's been a long wait for Baxter - not just the 9 years, but we 'got in line' for a puppy last October, so it's been a long wait on many levels. And for those of you who asked - Shelby is doing okay. She actually lets him have her toys (never would have believed that!) and she seems to like him, but she's an older gal now (at 8) and he can be extremely irritating, so sometimes she gets annoyed, which is very understandable. So then she just walks away, looking for higher ground. I'm sure she will learn to love him, it just might take some time. Of course, we are all making a huge effort to make sure she knows she's still Number One and always will be. Our house is a disaster, our routines turned upside down, as most of you know - that's life with a new puppy in the family! 07/22/21
This little face is the reason for our road trip over the weekend. Baxter is our brand new 8 week old Leonberger puppy. He actually comes from Alberta, but we didn't have to drive all the way to Edmonton to pick him up - we have family who live there, and they met us in Saskatoon. It's definitely not the best puppy portrait, but I did want to share his cute little face with you. I'm sure you have already guessed - you will be seeing many many more photos of our new baby. 07/21/21 www.jmcqueenphoto.com
