The heat has been unrelenting here, for most of July, which means many hours spent cooling off in the water. However, when the sky looks like this, it’s time to think about heading for shore before the lightening arrives. 07/27/20
The only place to be on a hot summer afternoon is in the water and, of course, that’s where everyone is. I’m on my ‘floaty thing”, sipping a cool beverage, watching the clouds building in the west, enjoying the company of neighbours, listening to all the summer sounds of fun & laughter around me, and thinking how very lucky I am…. (If you are wondering what’s in the background - on the right is a collection of recently used ‘floaty things’ and on the left is a seadoo getting pushed out past a sandbar.) Many thanks for all your thoughts on my photos of a few of the abandoned farm sites in our area, I really enjoyed reading them all. 07/26/20
Another abandoned farm site. There are so many in this Interlake area, always so sad to see. - each one tells the story of lost hopes and dreams. They get swallowed up by the bigger cattle farms, but the buildings remain until they fall into the ground. The same pattern has been unfolding all across North America. Such a loss to see the end of the family farm. Who would have believed it could happen in less than a lifetime? 07/25/20
