I found this little Ladybug riding a leaf as it floated around on the standing water in the yard. (The water in the Prairie and in the yard is all from melting snow and will only last a few days until the ground thaws and it sinks into the earth.) The Ladybug seemed to be alive, although I don’t know how it could be. It’s still way too cold for insects to survive. I just left him alone to continue his journey, alive or otherwise. 04/16/20
This is how our little piece of Native Prairie looks now. One would think there is nothing happening in this little scene, but there is. It’s all beginning underground, in that cold ground beneath the water. You just have to use your imagination to see it! 04/15/20
I missed the feathers on the end of the wing as this crow flew right overhead when I had my 300mm lens on the camera, so it was a one shot deal. At first glance, I thought the photo was a reject, but actually now I kind of like it. Of course, I would have preferred having those lovely wing feathers in the image but sometimes capturing ‘most of the bird’ is quite enough. 04/14/20
