This handsome fellow shares our lake life. I caught sight of him doing his evening rounds and I actually had the right lens on my camera at the right time - which rarely seems to happen! He has come through the winter looking a little rough with a bad scrape on his hind leg, possilbly a graze from a car. He didn't seem to be limping though, and otherwise looks healthy, still in his winter coat, so I hope he's all right. 04/27/20
The ice on the lake is changing every day. It is now slushy, almost foamy looking and yet still thick enough to walk on, and it is definitely green. (I tried to keep the colours true here.) I haven’t seen it often, but the folks who live here say that when the ice turns green it’s about to break up. The green colour is the result of a certain type of bacteria that causes the ice to soften until it simply dissolves and another winter is behind us. Any day now! 04/26/20
Left adrift, caught between winter and summer, just like like our spring - it can’t quite get launched. 04/25/20
