Our little Prairie Crocus is amazing… it pops up out of the almost frozen ground and immediately blooms its little heart out. Whenever I photograph our Prairie flowers, I try to tell their stories. Because they are wild and could be decades old, I always imagine they have wonderful stories to tell me, if only I could hear them. So this shot, with the lone little crocus struggling through the long matted remains of last year’s grasses and plants, is my attempt at telling the story of this one tough little Prairie Crocus. 05/02/20
Now that all the snow is gone, once again we are faced with the devastation of the terrible snow storm we had in the fall last year. Everywhere we look there are broken trees, almost every tree has lost its top or at the very least, lost great chunks of branches. Cleanup at the lake has now begun in earnest. The sound of chain saws seems endless. It’s a sound I never thought would feel so sad. 05/01/20
Not the best details, but I like the colours. These guys are so handsome and rather shy, so I was happy to get any kind of shot. Thanks so much for the help with the butterfly ID, such a wonderful knowledgeable community you are! Great news! Life is gradually returning to normal around here as the social and business rules are beginning to relax. What a relief! 04/30/20
