Our heat wave continues. Temps in the low 30’s C (90’s F) are normal in the summer here, but the humidity is not and it’s been driving the humidex up to 40C (104 F) for the last couple of weeks. And no end in sight. Sitting in the water under an umbrella is the only place to be. Seriously… I just do not know how you folks in Texas and the southern states live like this all summer! I find it completely unacceptable and extremely challenging & can't wait for it to end! 07/06/20 www.jmcqueenphoto.com
I know you’ve been on pins & needles wondering who it was that ruined yesterday’s photo of a Prothonotary Warbler (thanks Wayne, I would never have known that without your help!). Well… it was this little guy. And he sat here, barely moving, for the entire afternoon. He was gone the next day & I worried about that - there’s no way he could fly & I have no idea how he got there. I just hope he had a Mama looking after him and looking out for him. These babies are so vulnerable when they get pushed out of the nest….. I think it’s a Catbird youngster. I thought at first a Grackle (we have a lot of them this year) but it doesn’t have the yellow eyes. I’m totally guessing here though… any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. 07/05/20 www.jmcqueenphoto.com
