Our little ‘chicken planter’ is looking out over the water, patiently waiting for signs of spring break up. It will come, but not quite yet. In about a month, hopefully. The transition from ice to water is really quite amazing and often very dramatic. They say it can sound like thunder when it begins to crack. I’ve never been there when that happens, maybe this year. 03/04/20
Snow and shadows - they always love to hang out together. :-) Standing in our yard at the lake, looking out over the ice. Thanks so much for all your comments! Greatly appreciated, as always. 03/03/20
We drove up to the lake on the weekend, just to check in and make sure all is well. The weather was supposed to be great - relatively warm ( -3C) and not much wind. Well, they sure got that wrong! Surprise surprise! The wind blowing in off that ice was SO bitterly cold, I could only stand in it for a few minutes, then had to run inside and warm my hands. It was very disappointing as I had hoped to spend the day taking photos, but I’ll have to be satisfied with the few I was able to get. This is our canoe, on our beach, although there is no way to tell where the ice ends and the beach begins. It’s just one mass of white! 03/02/20
