I thought you might like a closer look at the cute little Juncos that joined us for a few days during the storm. Yesterday warmed up nicely, it was a beautiful sunny day, above freezing all day and by late afternoon, the crowd had thinned out considerably. I wish they had stayed a little longer, if they are heading north they will not be in for an easy journey. They got a lot more snow up there than we did, and the temps are colder. Such tough little birds, I admire them so much… and I miss them already. 04/06/20
We’ve been busy keeping up since the storm began. I managed to get more bird food, so the restaurant is open for a few more days, hopefully until the weather improves. Until then, we have literally hundreds of birds here at any given time. Mostly they are little Juncos and a very few Robins. We also have our resident Blue Jays and Sparrows dropping by and even the Crows are showing up, chasing everyone away, seemingly with pleasure. Difficult times, even for our birds. It feels so good to be able to help them out, even briefly. 04/05/20
This is how we started the day yesterday - shovelling almost 10” of snow off the decks. Obviously I was a little too optimistic about spring’s arrival. This weather seems particularly hard to take… who needs a 2 day snow storm with everything else that is going on these days? Oh well… what can you do? “Press on Regardless” as we say in my family when things get rough. I guess that’s how we are all feeling. One day at a time, my friends - take care and Press on Regardless. 04/04/20 ps… I couldn’t get to the path to take the comparison shot I promised, the snow was too deep to walk through.
