On Sunday evening we watched this bank of clouds swiftly approaching for about an hour. When it hit, the wind and heavy rain came at us instantly with a wild and violent rotating motion - I’ve never seen anything like it before! We actually had to run for cover in the crawl space under our neighbour’s cottage - our emergency tornado plan. (Climbing in through a narrow outside opening & then lying in a small crawl space area makes it a plan only to be used in emergencies! It was pretty crazy with 4 adults and Shelby!) There was damage done all along the Bay - many large trees uprooted, but it could have been so much worse. The only structure destroyed was ours - our screen tent was completely destroyed when a paddleboat that was on the beach 100 yards away was thrown over the trees, landed on the screen tent and then bounced off to the side. (I’ll show you that pic tomorrow.) At least, it seems that’s what happened. Even if we hadn’t been hiding in the basement, we couldn’t have seen across the yard. The rain was so heavy we could hardly find the steps on our deck when we ran for cover. It was a terrible storm, very frightening event, and was really quite a miracle that no one was hurt and the damage was not greater than it was. Only the beginning of summer and already the weather seems completely wild! 07/01/20 ps: those are bugs, not dirt on the lens... :-)) www.jmcqueenphoto.com
We have had some wild and crazy storms over the last few days, which always creates some wild and crazy skies. The strange yellow cast to the sky was just the way it looked. Our weather has been a real challenge over the last week, hopefully yours has been a little more gentle & agreeable. Thanks so much for all your views & comments, I appreciate each and every one. 06/30/20
Tis the season for our lovely Prairie Roses to show their pretty faces all over the prairie, in the ditches and on the sides of the trails. 06/29/20
