Sky watching is my favourite passtime. Who needs Netflix when there’s always drama up there? 07/26/19 (edit... to answer your question.. the thingy in the foreground is an old winch that's been embedded in the beach used to haul boats up onto the shore.)
This is actually a wild peony. Yes, there is such a thing. It’s a huge, healthy peony, growing happily alone in the middle of a bush used only by the deer. I’m guessing that someone dumped a load of unwanted organic material years ago. Little did they know what a treasure they were throwing away. (Thanks so much on all the help & encouragement on my bird photo troubles... all taken to heart & much appreciated... :-)) 07/25/19
I’m spending a lot (a lot..!!) of time trying to get some bird shots, mainly because I admire the bird photos here on Daily Photos so very much. They really are extraordinary! So now I have even more admiration for you bird-experts (and we all know who you are!). This shot is one of the very few captures I’ll be able to share, and I think I got this one only because these are youngsters and didn’t seem to know enough yet to be afraid of me & my ‘weapon’. I’m really struggling with my 300mm lens … I had hoped it would be enough to get half decent bird shots, but birds are surprisingly quick & flighty…. :-) Anyway, it’s always good to have a challenge, as my favourite writer-photographer, David duChemin says - keep shooting outside your comfort zone & never stop! Wish me luck! That’s the only way this bird photo thing is going to work for me! 07/24/19
