Yesterday we had an invasion of butterflies on our lilacs. At first I thought they were Monarchs, but they were much smaller and less showy. As far as I can tell, (after a brief & frustrating internet search) this is a Vicerory butterfly. This was one of those time when I longed for the right lens. I try not to get all caught up in the photographic ‘gear’, and mostly I enjoy whatever it is that I have with me in the moment… but there are times when the right lens can make all the difference between catching the vision & feeling that the opportunity was missed. Maybe… by the next time they flutter through my back yard, I will have that telephoto lens that’s been lurking on my wish list for so long! Many thanks for all your comments & critiques, they are all greatly appreciated. 06/19/19
Another wild plum blossom shot - I liked the white against the blue ... Thanks for your help with ID yesterday - :-) 06/18/19
I think that’s what they are… please correct me if I’m wrong. I’m a bit behind in posting my pics… spring burst out here about 2 weeks ago with lots of the trees blossoming. It seems like you wait & wait & wait for spring, then one day - there it is! And everything happens at once! 06/17/19
