They only open to the sun. When the sun is not warm and shining, they are closed up tight, protecting themselves from the cold with all the tiny silvery hairs that catch and hold the warmth. One must be very resourceful to survive in the uncertainties of a Prairie spring in the north. That goes for plants as well as people, :-)) 05/09/22
