My Paintings
Thanks so much for sharing my 'work' - it means a lot to me to have you here... :)
The Foggy Seascape
I'm quite proud of this painting. The caveat is that I painted it alongside a tutorial by Aaron Rutten, so it is not original. BUT! I painted every single stroke of this myself, even the original sketch, I did myself.
I worked on this for well over a month, redoing and redoing, over and over, working on every tiny detail. I learned so much as I struggled along, about brushes and colour and technique. The reason I chose this difficult painting to challenge myself with is, aside from the fact that I love a challenge! - I want SO much to do my own original paintings of the Lake. The water, the sand, the waves, the rocks - one day I will do an original, and I feel I am on my way now!Romantic Roses (class at DAA)
Not particularly proud of this one because I couldn't make it look like I wanted it to, but I am proud that I got it done. Probably my most challenging project to date.
Painted totally 'from scratch' using the lovely but difficult to master brushes in the Romantic Roses brush category, for the class by Karen Bonaker. This took me at least a month to complete, I cannot tell you how tired I am of struggling with this one _ but, I finished it! (Painter 2020 and Photoshop for finishing up).Mountains & Ice
Using Snowy Mountain brushes from Karen at DAA in Painter 2020. These were free brushes that Karen gave the community for Christmas, and a tutorial video to follow along.
I really like the mountain and they sky, the far treeline and especially the ice in the foreground (which was a total fluke!) but the foreground tree is really weird and a bit of a disaster. After spending hours on the damn tree, I decided I couldn't fix it and gave up. When I look at it, I try not to look at the tree... and then I am quite proud of it!This is a many layered attempt to create a composition that began with a sketch my brother made of my mother’s hands while she was knitting, several years ago.
It was done in iColorama… during a couple of evenings, playing on the iPad, adding images & textures & colours & layers, until finally I had something that I sorta liked. Surprisingly!
I know it’s technically not a photo, (although it began as one) but I would like to share with you anyway, I always value your thoughts & your critiques are always welcome… :-)
