One of the original lighthouses on Hecla Island, overlooking Lake Winnipeg, the 10th largest inland lake in the world.

The sign says 'Hecla Island' in Icelandic (to the best of my knowledge).

The Icelandic people were the first white folks to settle in this area in Manitoba in the 1870's. They called it New Iceland and it is still home to the largest concentration of people of Icelandic ancestry outside Iceland.

This is a 'hand-drawn' painting (well, actually mouse-drawn) done in Painter Essentials. It's done by tracing a photo using different brushes & colours.
